Double your donation to RSACC between 8 – 15 October 2025

In 2024, 464 survivors of sexual violence were able to attend 20 weeks of counselling sessions at RSACC that were delivered free of charge. But they weren’t just any counselling sessions. They were hours spent with compassionate, understanding and committed specialists who understood and were able to listen without judgement. Giving 464 survivors the chance to be believed and, as a result, regain their confidence and feel empowered to go out and live again.

This year, we are really pleased to announce that we have been given the chance to raise funds for this vital service as part of The Big Give Women and Girls fundraising campaign.

Taking place from Wednesday 8 – 15 October, this unique campaign means for one week only every donation made to RSACC via this donate page will be doubled up to the value of £2500 – enough to fund 100 counselling sessions for survivors of sexual violence in Darlington and County Durham.

Victoria Mathewson, RSACC’s Fundraising Development Manager explains: “Over the past four years, demand for our counselling service has remained consistently high. But between February and July 2025 we saw a sharp rise in referrals. This huge demand demonstrates how crucial our service is for survivors who want to speak to specialist counsellors who truly understand the impact sexual violence has on mental health, and lives.”

Every year it costs RSACC almost £300,000 to provide this counselling service to survivors free of charge and we receive only partial funding from the government.

Victoria added: “The Big Give campaign is an opportunity to support this vital lifeline for so many survivors who access our support. That’s why we’re asking all those who are in a financial position to support us to make a donation – however big or small –

during the week of the Big Give campaign. It really is a one-off opportunity to see their donation and impact doubled at no cost to them at all and will make a huge difference to us as a charity.”

One survivor who recently accessed RSACC’s counselling service said: “I am so grateful for being able to access such an amazing safe haven! You have given me the opportunity to step back and breathe again. I feel like a stronger person, able to face the world and live again. I am empowered.”
